Brenda Hart Upcoming Classes!
Brenda has authored 5 stitch books and her ideas are great.
She teaches for us several times a year and it is always a sell out. Everyone has such a great time. Brenda works with each

Color Details - Crossing the Wheel
October 22, 2010 11 - 5 pm -
"Color Details: Crossing the Wheel” explores direct complements in depth. “Color Details” will demystify one aspect of color theory for students. Each student will select a preferred direct complement combination. Using a simple method for controlling amounts of paint, students will explore the range of colors available within that combination by mixing gradations of tints, tones, and shades. Students will then experience “crossing the wheel” by creating a graduated scale of pure hue mixtures (modulations), then tinting those mixtures.
Once students possess visual references of the range of colors available in their desired complementary scheme, we will try various ways to depict the colors. Students will mix thread colors in the needle and will alternate colors at they stitch to achieve optical mixing. Layering sheer fabrics and tulle will yield color modulations.
Cost is $160. Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space. A $100 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due one month before class.
Polar Shadows
October 23 & 24, 2010 11 - 5 pm -

Polar Shadows, a frosty Norwegian scene is worked on pale gray 24-ct. Congress cloth with muted and/or pastel hues of hand-dyed threads to create innumerable color variations.
The structures (buildings and bridge) use traditional canvaswork stitches, solidly covering the canvas ground. Embroidery stitches depict railings and tree trunks/branches.
As the landscape features recede from foreground to background, the stitch treatments likewise change with the background hills being stitched with composite exposed canvas patterns, stitched with single strands of thread. The sky is very minimally stitched.
A layer of gray pale blue silk organza and mauve tulle shapes is basted onto the canvas. Finally, small exposed canvas stitches, using a single strand of embroidery floss or Accentuate fine metallic, stitched through all layers, complete the illusion of tree foliage.
Cost is $315 plus kit, price tbd. Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space. A $200 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due one month before class.
Students taking both of Caela's classes will receive a 10% discount.

The Birches
October 20-21, 2011 11 - 5 pm -
This class always sells out. It's such a charming design.
‘Beautiful Birches’ (a non-charted design) contains unique techniques for working stitches, as well as the application of sheer and opaque fabrics to the Congress cloth to create the ground areas. The layering of sheers to create depth and perspective, working with dowels, paper, and manipulated photographs of birch trees, and silk ribbons brings the design to life.
Silk ribbons in varying sizes are used to create the leaves.
The ground is created using the sheer and opaque fabrics which are applied with Wonder Under, a fusible web. The hillock sections are then trimmed and embellished with the novelty fibers and threads to give the appearance of grasses and weeds.
Finished size is 5.25 x 8.5
Cost is $315 plus kit, price tbd. Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space. A $200 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due one month before class.
Little Quail
October 22-23, 2011 11 - 5 pm -
‘Little Quail’ is a non-charted design, created with the use of sheer and opaque fabrics, silk ombre ribbons, metallic threads, floss and stumpwork techniques.
Techniques will be demonstrated for the stitching and application of sheer and opaque fabrics. Some of the leaves will be superimposed on the ground fabric after being wired and will curve out from the piece in the student’s choice of placement. Some of the leaves will be bonded directly to the ground and then overstitched. This will give a 3-D effect around and partially over the quail.
The quail’s body and head will be stitched separately on muslin and then applied to the ground fabric with padding created with one or two layers of felt.
‘Little Quail’ is the first piece in bird theme series. Finished size is 6".
Cost is $315 plus kit, price tbd. Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space. A $200 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due one month before class.
Students taking both of Lynn's classes will receive a 10% discount.
